SATs Information – King’s Oak Academy
SATs Week 2026
Dates: Monday 11th May to Thursday 14th May
Children will prepare throughout the year both in class and at home.
Maths
Children will sit three papers:
- Arithmetic – 30 minutes – max score: 40
- Reasoning Paper 1 – 40 minutes – max score: 35
- Reasoning Paper 2 – 40 minutes – max score: 35
Reading
One paper – 1 hour – max score: 50
Includes comprehension questions on 3 texts (fiction and non-fiction)
SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)
Two papers:
- Grammar & Punctuation – 45 mins – max score: 50
- Spelling – 20 words from statutory lists and patterns – max score: 20
Writing
Assessed across the year through independent tasks.
Judged against national curriculum standards:
– Working towards expected
– Working at expected
– Working at greater depth
Mocks
Practice SATs (mocks) are sat each half term. They gently prepare students for the final SATs so they are familiar with how they will run. How students perform is used to further help them throughout the year by identifying areas for improvement and tailoring support accordingly.
