King’s Oak Academy on BBC Points West & BBC Radio Bristol
Seven Year 10 students from King’s Oak Academy have voluntarily stepped away from social media for a full week, as debate intensifies around potential restrictions for young people.
The challenge comes at a time when Australia has already introduced a ban on social media use for under-16s, and the UK Government is actively considering similar measures. Against this backdrop, the students chose to explore firsthand the impact of disconnecting from digital platforms.
BBC Points West’s Andy Howard and BBC Radio Bristol’s Breakfast show host Joe Sims spoke to Kathrine Ogden Principal of King’s Oak Academy and the seven students to find out how they got on.
After the piece aired on the programme newsreader Amanda Parr spoke to Katherine Ogden and two students live in the studio.
