King’s Oak students explore future careers at STEM skills fair

Year 10 students from King’s Oak Academy had the exciting opportunity to visit the Science Museum in London, where they attended the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and maths) skills fair.

This enlightening event offered students a valuable platform to explore potential career pathways and gain insights into the skills in demand for tomorrow’s innovators. The fair highlighted the dynamic and evolving nature of STEM careers, with many of the roles that these students may pursue in the future yet to be created.

Students actively engaged with professionals from a range of scientific fields, including representatives from employers and universities, who facilitated a variety of interactive activities. These interactions gave the students hands-on experience and practical knowledge about emerging career opportunities in STEM.

One of the event organisers praised King’s Oak Academy students for their exemplary behaviour and engagement, noting how well they represented their school.

Laura Phillips, Associate Assistant Principal at King’s Oak Academy, said: “Our Year 10 students demonstrated curiosity, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout the STEM skills fair.

“It was fantastic to see them engaging so meaningfully with industry professionals and gaining a deeper understanding of how their studies today can shape their futures.

“This experience has sparked inspiration and ambition, which is exactly what we hoped to achieve. Well done, Year 10!”
